"How much does Buildertrend cost?" is one of the first questions contractors ask about it, and Buildertrend doesn't publish the answer. Here's exactly what its pricing page shows today, what it charged when it last listed prices, what 2026 quotes reportedly look like, and what a small remodeler can expect to pay in year one.
Quick answer
Buildertrend is quote-only. Its last published plans ran $499–$1,099/mo month-to-month (December 2024), and 2026 third-party estimates put typical spend at roughly $8,000–$14,000 a year. For a small remodeler or GC, we recommend Amberchalk: a published price (Pro $79/mo, unlimited users), a Free plan you can start today with no sales call, and a phone app that keeps working offline. Buildertrend is the better fit if you run 5+ projects a year, want a sub portal and warranty tracking, and are ready for a custom quote and an annual term.

What Buildertrend's pricing page shows today
We loaded Buildertrend's pricing page on October 23, 2026. It lists no dollar amounts. Here's what it does say:
- Custom quote only. You "answer a few quick questions about your business, then schedule a call," and the team reviews your customized quote with you.
- Unlimited users and unlimited projects. The FAQ says "we include unlimited users in your pricing," and the page headline promises unlimited projects.
- 10% off when you pay annually upfront, shown as a special offer.
- What's included: core tools, daily virtual trainings, a 24/7 Help Center and a long feature list, from scheduling and selections to a sub portal, warranties and takeoff, plus QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto integrations.
- Who it's for: builders who "oversee 5+ projects a year or handle complex, multi-phase builds" and "want to go from 6–8 figures in annual revenue."
So the honest answer is: whatever your quote says. The numbers below tell you what to expect before that call.
Buildertrend's last published prices (December 2024)
An archived copy of the pricing page from December 19, 2024 shows the Essential plan at a regular price of $499/mo (with $300 off the first month as a promotion). The same page says the Buildertrend Boost onboarding package was "valued at $100 a month," charged separately on monthly plans and free for the year on annual plans.
The full tier list, as cited by Projul's comparison (a competitor, so read it as history, not a quote):
- Essential: $499/mo month-to-month, or $449/mo billed yearly ($5,388/yr). Scheduling, daily logs, to-dos, time clock, client portal, sales tools.
- Advanced: $799/mo, or $719/mo yearly ($8,628/yr). Adds change orders, purchase orders, budgets, estimates and takeoff.
- Complete: $1,099/mo, or $989/mo yearly ($11,868/yr). Adds selections, warranties, RFIs and the Gusto integration.
The archived FAQ confirms that split. For a remodeler it matters: change orders and selections are everyday tools, and on the old plans they sat on the $799 and $1,099 tiers.
What Buildertrend quotes look like in 2026
Since early 2025, Buildertrend reportedly prices on your annual construction volume rather than on plans or users. Three named sources give the best public picture. All are third-party estimates, not Buildertrend prices:
- Connecteam (September 2, 2026): its Buildertrend review says sales quoted $9,000–$14,000 a year for a residential builder with 20 employees, 5–10 active projects and $1–5 million in volume. The quote had a one-year minimum, no setup fee, and required a support tier: Tier 1 at $100/mo or Tier 2 at $300/mo. When the reviewer picked $0–$499,000 in volume, the form suggested Buildertrend might not be a fit.
- Payment fees in that same quote: 2.99% on client card payments, $15 per client ACH payment, $1 per ACH transfer to a sub and $2 per mailed check (Connecteam).
- Contractor Software Hub (June 14, 2026): puts typical annual spend for a full-featured license at $8,000–$10,000, with onboarding coaching and data migration at $400–$1,500 extra (source).
What a small remodeler should budget for year one
Using only the numbers above, here's a realistic year-one range if Buildertrend quotes you at the low end:
- Subscription: about $8,000–$14,000 per year (third-party estimates).
- Required support tier: $1,200 per year at Tier 1 ($100/mo), or $3,600 at Tier 2.
- Onboarding or data migration, if offered as extra: $400–$1,500.
- Payment fees: on a $20,000 kitchen draw paid by card, 2.99% is about $598.
That puts a realistic first year at roughly $9,200–$19,100 before payment fees, or about $770–$1,590 a month. Paying annually upfront can take 10% off the subscription, per Buildertrend's page. If you do a handful of kitchens and baths a year, that's the number to weigh against what you'd actually use.
When Buildertrend is worth the price
Buildertrend fits a specific kind of business well:
- You run 5+ projects a year, or long multi-phase builds, which is who Buildertrend says it's built for.
- You want subs and vendors in their own portal, plus warranty tracking after handover.
- Your bookkeeper wants QuickBooks, Xero or Gusto integrations.
- You have a large team: unlimited users means a superintendent or office hire doesn't change the price.
Cheaper options with published prices
1. Amberchalk: our pick for small remodelers (flat price, phone-first, offline)
Price: Free plan (1 user, 1 active project, no card). Crew $39/mo or $390/yr (3 users, 3 active projects, +$10/mo per extra user or project). Pro $79/mo or $790/yr with unlimited users and unlimited projects. 7-day trial, no contract, and you cancel from "Manage billing" in the app (pricing). A 10-person crew on Pro pays $790 a year, less than one month of Buildertrend's last published Complete plan.
What you get: Amberchalk is built for remodelers and small GCs who run the job from a phone.
- Schedules: generate a schedule from a template, including a whole-home schedule phase by phase from demo to final walkthrough, with tasks assigned to the subs you pick for each trade.
- Change orders and selections: send change orders your client approves from a link with an e-signature, and track selections, deliveries and paint colors (with a homeowner color-approval link).
- Time and money: crew time cards, T&M invoices with markup, and Pay online, so clients pay by card or bank through your own Stripe account.
- Homeowner link: progress and photos, no money data.
- Works offline: data lives on the phone first and syncs when you're back in signal, which matters in a gutted house with no Wi-Fi.
- Pro adds financials with job costing, receipt scanning, estimating and takeoff from plans, branded reports and QuickBooks export.
- Download job: save a PDF record of any job before you archive or delete it.
Good to know: there's no sub/vendor portal and no warranty module. QuickBooks is a file export (QuickBooks Online CSV or Desktop IIF on Pro), not a live sync. Online payments carry a 1% Amberchalk fee (max $25) plus Stripe's processing fee. There's no CoConstruct or Buildertrend importer, so you start new jobs fresh. It's a new product without third-party reviews yet, and it's a web app you add to your home screen, not an App Store download.

How to get a fair Buildertrend quote
If Buildertrend is on your shortlist, go into the call with these questions written down:
- Which volume bracket am I in? Ask how the bracket is set, and what happens to your price if your volume grows next year.
- Is a support tier required, and what does it cost? Connecteam's quote required one at $100 or $300 a month.
- What's the term? Ask about monthly or quarterly payment, the 10% upfront discount, the renewal price and the cancellation notice period.
- Are onboarding and data migration included? Get it in writing if they're extra.
- What are the payment fees? Card, ACH and sub payout fees add up across a year of draws.
Then compare the total against a tool you can price yourself. One real job in a free plan tells you more than any demo. Tracking changes on paper today? Our free change order template and remodeling schedule template are good stopgaps.
